Hello from Universitas Negeri Surabaya

The International Office (IO) is an institute under the Vice Rector of Planning and Partnership Unesa which provides professionals supports and advising services to international students who are soming for full-time study and exchange programs and scholars, regarding their study, research and immigration status in Indonesia. The office is also committed to providing quality advising services and supportive programming to Unesa students who are participating in mobility programs in partner universities overseas.

Our main objective is to help the international students and scholars, to prepare their visit to Unesa, including visa arrangement and other information to make their stay in Surabaya be as convenient and enjoyable as possible. We also provide information for Unesa students, faculty, and staff about student mobility programs, as well as scholarship offered by various foreign universities and other funding institutions.

Why Unesa?

In Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, known as Unesa, is located in Surabaya, the capital of East Java province. It has two main campuses, one in the western part of Surabaya and the other in the southern part the city. Surabaya itself is the second biggest city of Indonesia after Jakarta and is recognized as the city of heroes, the city of arek Surabaya (Surabaya people) who are characteristically warm and egalitarian. Studying at or simply visiting Unesa, therefore, gives two extra benefits: the warm and welcoming attitude of the people in Surabaya and an opportunity toexplore the heroic nature of the metropolitan city.

For many years, Unesa has developed a character to be a university with excellence in both educational and non-educational science programs. Seven faculties cater undergraduate level of studies, each focusing on one of these areas of disciplines: Educational Sciences, Social Sciences, Sciences and Mathematics, Engineering, Sport Sciences, and Economics. The Postgraduate faculty caters those who pursue a masters or doctorate degree in the following areas: Mathematics Education, Science Education, Sports Education, Sports Science, Language and Literature Education, Education Management, Basic Education, Arts and Culture Education, Social Sciences Education, Vocational and Technology Education, Economics Education, Special Education, Educational Technology. 

Established in 1964, U,niversitas Negeri Surabaya (Unesa) is one of the biggest state universities in Indonesia. When Unesa was first established in 1964, its name was Teacher Training College Surabaya (IKIP Surabaya) that accommodate the need of teachers around East Java and gave a great attention to education. Then, by the Indonesian Presidential Decree No.93 in 1999, IKIP Surabaya was converted to be Universitas Negeri Surabaya.
